Comments from Members of the Railway Photographic Society
Less than a dozen of my photographs have been previously published and none
have been seen in print since 1966. As a consequence of this situation, my name
is virtually unknown outside the circle of friends I made as a member of the
Railway Photographic Society. The society itself ceased to exist when its
founder, Maurice Earley passed away and indeed several of the members with whom
I became acquainted during the years of my membership have also now left us.
In order to give visitors to this website an idea of the standard of
photographs available, I felt that this could best be done by passing on some of
the comments and criticisms made all those years ago by my fellow R.P.S.
members. Fortunately, I still have all the criticism sheets for my entries to
the folios and from these I have extracted remarks which, needless to say, are
unbiased, independent, and also serve to give an insight into how my fellow
photographers rated my work.

This is the best of your entries in this round. The
sunshine has put a bit of life into the picture and gives it some impact.
A nice study of an un-rebuilt V2. Well presented. |

I like this very much, and I like the range of print
tones, especially in the sky. Neatly presented. Well done. |

Yes, I like this very much. Apart from anything else I
think that V2 s are a help to the photograph. |

I like this better than the A4 shot, it fits better in
the picture space and is more pleasing as a result. An excellent study of
a V2. Very fine. |
